Initialization Strings Init strings tell a modem how to act. There are literally hundreds of modems on sale and each one has it's own different init string AND there may be a different init string for each modem You should always refer to your modem manual for this information. Init String setup for Windows:Go to My Computer, then Control Panel, then Modems. Make sure that Windows has properly identified your modem. If not, make it so. If your modem is properly identified, select Properties, then the Connections Tab, then Advanced, then in the Extra Settings box insert the init string recommended in your modem manual. Click OK all the way out. Shutdown and Restart your system. Click on the following links to search for init strings, Thanks JoJo! http://www.modemhelp.org/index.html http://www.west.net/~jay/modem/
